We had hoped that Congress would pass the historic EV provisions in the Build Back Better Act before the end of 2021. Plug In America and its members have devoted tremendous energy to that effort this year, pinging Congress more than 35,000 times in the past 12 months. Toyota plans to produce millions of new EVs by end of decade
Last fall, we sent out an action alert because Toyota was actively lobbying against EVs in Congress. PIA supporters sent thousands of messages to Toyota, urging them to not stand in the way of EVs. Last month, Toyota unveiled its plan to produce 3.5 million electric vehicles by 2030, about one-third of Toyota’s sales pre-pandemic—a huge win for the EV market.
